The Super Secret Squirrel Cigar Box Swap!!!!!!

Hey guys!! Jade over on YouTube who is jadedstudios is hosting this really super amazing secret squirrel cigar box swap. It's like a secret santa but for scrappers!! :) Check out the deets on the swap here. I was really really excited that I was able to participate in this swap! I had such a fun time creating this, that I find that I want to alter more cigar boxes. LOL. The theme Jade gave us was to create something "Shabby Chic", and the challenge was to use pastel colors. And let me tell you, I had somewhat of a slow time using pastel colors. I didn't know how pastel-y (OMG is that even a word?) I wanted to go. I usually go for blacks, browns, vintage looks with what I create so this is my first attempt at shabby chic, and this is what I came up with.

I used alot of my leftover scraps to decorate this thing. I'm pretty sure all of the paper I used is from Graphic 45 scraps from both Le'Romantique and Domestic Goddess collections.
I first unscrewed the cigar box hinges and clasp so that I could easily paint the box. I used a base coat of acrylic paint in soft jade by craftsmart and then painted on a coat of Folkart's crackle medium that I got at Mike's. After that dried, I then painted over that with light antique white acrylic paint, which pretty much immediately started to crackle. I just love love love how this looks! I got this tutorial from Bona on YT. Check it out here

Supplies used:
-natural wood cigar box I purchased mine at Michaels
-I used my distress tool to distress all the edges of the DSP from Graphic 45's Le Romantique and Domestic Goddess collections
-Distress ink in Antique Linen, inked on all the paper and images.
-Recollections mulberry flowers from Michaels
-Recollections pearl bling
-Some white Prima leaves, and Recollections leaves which I misted green with my homemade mist
-doily that I also colored up with homemade mist
-the sentiments used are Brenda Walton stickers by K&Co.
-black laces from my stash (my fav!!)
-pearl trim
-awesome burlap-like ribbon trim that I found at WalMart

I now want to alter another one. They are honestly super addicting to do. Kinda drama, but addicting none-the-less! I really hope my partner enjoys my cigar box and all the goodies which I jam packed inside!! ;)

Hugs,
-Hazelle
